Dog Training and Behaviour
Dogs may experience challenges in daily life that impact their quality of life, and yours. When your dog is fearful or reactive, or responds aggressively in certain situations, it is stressful for everyone. It can affect so many areas of your life and feel impossible to go for walks or have visitors to your home. When you are living with such a difficult problem, it can cause big feelings and it is hard to see a way forward.
We can help your dog learn a new way of acting in the world and develop new habits around people and other dogs. We can help your dog gain new skills to navigate the world with confidence and optimism.

My passion and special interest is scent work. Dogs were born to sniff and explore the world through their nose. Formal scent work is no longer the sole preserve of specialist and operational dog training and it now available to families and their pet dogs for fun and for sport. I offer nosework (searching for hidden odours) and mantrailing (searching for hidden people) for fun and for sport.
Solving a scent puzzle can be a complex task that requires a lot of brain power. Scent work provides terrific mental stimulation for dogs and builds confidence and persistence as they progress.
Participating in scent work also gives us a different way to work with our dogs. In scent work, the dog is the expert. Our role is to set the stage for learning, always working at the dog’s current skill set, and to follow, observe and read the dog as they communicate to us where the odour is. We can never experience the world of odour the way our dogs do but we can become part of that world as their scent work partners.
If your dog can use their nose, they can learn and enjoy scent work. All breeds, ages, and sizes can participate. Dogs with different temperaments, including reactive, nervous, and shy dogs, are welcome and will benefit from structured, positive, fun exposure to new environments and people. Dogs who react to other dogs can take part because the dogs work singly in the search areas and wait in the car between turns. Senior dogs, dogs who are deaf or blind, and dogs with special physical needs can also participate as scent work is not physically demanding.
We set every dog up for success by meeting them where they are and creating a safe and comfortable environment for them to work.
