Normally, when handling our dog during a nosework search, we want to relieve pressure so that our dog can work independently.

Ways to relieve pressure

• Give more space, i.e. don't crowd your dog. 
• Stand with your toes and your shoulders oriented towards your dog so that you are following them.

Ways we apply pressure

• Step in towards the dog
• Overtake the dog
• Face the dog squarely as opposed to angling our body
• Lean over our dog, especially at the start line
• Stand in the vicinity of where the dog is trying to search
